That comes down to how this would be handled, for example if people are paying clinics the's a huge risk that this becomes a business and the vulnerable are knocked off for profit with minimal checks. I'd much rather these people live and this law be swept aside tbh, it's a bit of a hard situation for me to accept as I know various people who have relatives who are vulnerable as well as having parents who suffered depression. Like I said I feel for the terminally ill but the can of worms this could open s a bit too much imo, all we can hope for is maybe one day medical precedures will reach a point where a semblance of a normal life can be given to these people so such an option will never be thought of. |
Well, suicide is already the 10th leading cause of death in the US, and the rates have steadily climbed over the past 10 years. Men are 3.5x more likely to die of suicide than women, so there's very clearly an issue with the Mental Health of males in the US (can't for the life of me imagine why that is). I cannot speak for the rest of the world, but 42,773 suicides/year is unacceptable to me, and it's something the US really needs to deal with.
Yes, this would take work, but, I think it's worth the effort, myself. As far as the terminally ill are concerned, already stated how I feel on that one. And I know what I'd do to any doctor or nurse standing in the way of a family member choosing their own path.
