The problem with this topic has never been the choice of self termination but more so the can of worms it opens, as harsh as it may sound it's probably best things stay how they are to avoid that can of worms. The are mad people out there who would knock vulnerable people off and use this as a means to get off scott free, I particularly fear for people who are mentally slow in this instance.

It's never straight forward with these things and it's probably best to leave things as they are to preserve life.

I disagree, I think if you legalize it, there's a great potential for these people who are, for whatever reason, hurting inside.  Now, if they're terminally ill, personally, I'm more than happy to put a bullet in anyone denying them a release.  If it's someone who is just severely depressed etc... maybe if it's legalized (ergo you would need to go through the Mental Health process before gaining access to whatever suicide drug), there's more chance to help the ones that can be helped.

Otherwise, the status quo is that you're saving nobody because they will find a way to do it themselves.  To do nothing (to me anyway), basically admits we don't care that people are hurting AND denies people self-determination.
