The Wii won the 7th generation with ease and didn't get shit via ports because devs couldn't be bothered with the time and expense. I'm not saying it'll happen to that extent or even happen at all but there IS precedent and not just with Wii. |
the Wii, won the last Generation but Third Party tittles with some exceptions like Just Dance, sold poorly on the Wii, because of that wasn't worth the time for Several developers, but the Wii, indeed had Third Party support, a lot of games came also for The Wii, but after those games don't sell enought, they stopped of making games for the Wii.
PS4, is selling 2-3 times more, and nearly all the games that sell on PS4, sell 2 Times or even more the units of the Xbox One's Version, there isn't a single exception, isn't like the PS3, where some games sold better on PS3, than on Xbox 360 (even on USA), here Xbox 360, does not have any sale advantage on Any genre, and in Japanese games, or Story-telling games, the Gap is even bigger, Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain, have a 5 to 1 gap according to Vg Chartz, even with Microsoft, having the Marketing rights of Fifa 16, the game sold 2.5 to 1 in favor of the PS4.
Regarding to Wii's Third Party support, according to VGChartz, the best selling Third Party non-Just Dance tittle on Wii, was "Star Wars Lego Complete Saga" i think that is a Remaster of the 2 Star Wars Lego game of the PS2, i don't remember this tittle, it sold 5.8 Millions, the second one was Guitar Hero, with 4.62 Millions of units sold, so the Wii, had Hight Hardware sales, but only First Party tittles (or Just Dance), had success with the Console.
Comparing it to PS2's early sales, GTA 3, more than 13 Millions Metal Gear Solid 2, and 3, sold more than 5 Millions, Final Fantasy X, more than 8, X-2, more than 5, Kingdom Hearts, more than 6, had a Hight attach rate for Third Party tittles, i think that the best selling Third Party, was GTA Saandreas, with more than 20 Millions of units sold.
