The fact that Sony, Microsoft or any other company can be so ignorant and brazen as to think they can just fuck with standard console cycles is proof enough that they're going to fail. Console gaming is not the smartphone industry. The Wii-U was Nintendo's example of this. They thought ignorantly "people love tablets, lets put a tablet in our controler=win". That is exactly the same thing as thinking "people spend 200-300 dollars every year or two on smart phone upgrades. Let's release a console upgrade ever 2-3 years=win". It's foolish.

As soon as they start releasing upgraded consoles 2-3 years apart, it's game over for all of us. The fact that I can spot this so plainly this far off is ridiuclous beause it means that the guys who are in charge, shouldn't be.

I can still remember the mighty fall of Sega... and this is all looking very similar.

What are you talking about?

You are drawing comparisons with examples that aren't even in the same ball park.

What in God's name has arrogance got to do with any of this?

But let me understand something. Say you have a PS4 and 3 years later a PS4.5 is released that supports 4k output and has stuff that can make games look a little better than the PS4 that you have. And by better I mean where your console only managed 900p the new one does 1080p. Where your console managed 2xAA the new one does 4xAA. Where your console averages 25-30fps the new one averages 30fps locked. Where it take you 15secs to load a level the new one takes 7secs.

How is that "game over" for all of us. How is this a bad thing? So the problem here isn't that the console you bought 3yrs ago is running a game at 1080p@30fps. but that the new one can output the exact same game at 4k@30fps to a 4k TV that you don't even have? (not saying u domt have a 4k TV but you get my point)
