nothing will change.

And we have the XB1 to thank for that.

As is devs have to make their game run on an XB1. In so doing they pretty much guarantee that the PS4 will run the same game but better. Kinda like having medium to high setting on the PC.

The same will be the case with the PS4n, it will just be like going from high to ultra settings. All these things will be in a config file with the devs. Just as they do it today.

When devs make a game and they have their configuration for low, medium, high and ultra.... there and then they already know where all the platforms will fall. They know what has to be worked on to get any targeted setting to work on any platform. Maybe before they worked on getting medium settings for the XB1 and then high settings for the PS4, now they just have another option, ultra for the PS4n.

Nothing new.

X1 will have high settings and run like shit with reduced resolution. PS4 will run at medium with high res and stable framerate. PS4K will run at ultra and depending on the game at higher fps.

I see no fault in that. PS4 does not have to compete with X1 anymore. PS4K will cover that. PS4 owners will not sell their PS4 and get an X1 to get slightly better graphics when they have the option to trade in their PS4 for a much better console.
