That is from 2013. I am absolutely certain I've read articles from the same time period where Sony more directly talks about the idea of mid cycle hardware upgrades, but it's becoming hard to find them now that the Internet is flooded with ps4k posts. @OP - it's too late for the Xbox. MS knows that. Why do you think they're shifting focus to PC?

Ah true, forgot about that, I was referring more to the recent round of rumors, but you're right that Sony did bring up the possibility first. Note that I'm primarily a Sony gamer (all I own is a ps4 this gen) but I still expect MS to upgrade their hardware as well. I actually think they're eager to get the Xbox One out of gamers' minds and plan to introduce Xbox more as a "platform" than a traditional console soon. That's why it wouldn't surprise me to see a number of upgrade paths/ configurations out of them.
