The difference is comparable to that of an HD7850 to an HD7970 ( a little bit more than that.)

I don't see that as exceptionally unrealistic though for $100 on the base-price of a PS4.
The memory bandwidth of a 7970 is 264 GB/s. I suspect there is more to the story than what these few specs provide us.
