That would be the case if it was sold out everywhere, not only on Amazon.
Amazon has understimated the sales and got a lower stock than they should (which can still have been a big stock).

Sony has nothing to do with it, they can't force retailers to buy the amount they want to sell, the retailers are the ones that judge what they can sell and buy that amount from Sony to sell on their stores.

I based the undershipment based on how fast the game is out of stock on Amazon even though the game isn't going to do even 1 million FW plus when I picked up the game day one, Wal-Mart only have 4 copies.  

Well yeah, it wasn't Sony.  It was the store who ordered less than I think they should but I guess that also happens because pre orders wasn't great.
