I think Dark Souls is a better game than Demon's Souls but I enjoyed Demon's Souls alot more. It was such a fresh experience when I first started playing. Yeah Dark Souls built upon that and made it better, I just didnt have that same fear as I had already experienced fear and death in Demon's Souls.

I definitely agree, to an extent. Demon's Souls was also my 1st game in the series, and it really challenged my gaming ability. I gave up at Phalanx---that is how bad I was at that game. But, I persevered and beat the game.  Still, the design and interconnectedness of Dark Souls really blew me away (I also played it at 60 fps on pc, which was a huge deal and made a big difference).

And yes, the fear and death aspect was insane upon my 1st playthrough of Demon's, just like yourself. Especially Tower of Latria. I proceeded through that area so slowly because I was terrified of the darkness and those gargoyles hahaha. Such brilliant level design. I mean really, most of the levels in that game are some of my favorite designs ever, such as Boletaria, Shrine of Storms, and Latria. Wonderful, wonderful game.
