Actually I find humbled to be a totally disingenuous and overused word in corporate PR. Why can't they just express gratitude? "We are grateful for the ongoing support...blah blah blah".
Back in the Sony offices, every NPD week when they find out they've won in the USA again, it's not humility they are feeling. They are popping the champagne, high fiving and saying "Oh yeah baby! Another month in the bag!"
Humility is a very good guard against arrogance, so it would be good for Sony to be humble. I just don;t think they really are, and what will really prevent future mistakes due to arrogance is hopefully people who were around in 2005-7 remembering what happended last time they had an arrogant attitude towards their consumer base. Sony was actually humbled back then, they're not humble now.
