without my contacts I can still navigate the environment fine, but everything is pretty blurry and reading (book/magazine/tablet) is only possible at fairly close range (arms lengths max)
I'm short sighted in both eyes, but more annoying is the astigmatism as the lenses have to sit at the right angle to give me perfect vision .. usually far and small objects have some double contours
