You know, I thought Far Cry was mediocre at best. It's graphics and HDR were okay and the draw distance was pretty neat. However, I think it falls flat on it's face with it's shitty voice acting, sub-par storyline, really bad sneaking aspect, enemies who can take you out almost instantly even on easy (let's not get started on the one hit death with the rocket launcher guys from a mile away).

Yet, here we are exctied because Crysis looks amazing even though everything else is really unproven by the developers. By the standards we're going for the Killzone games, shouldn't we feel the same about Crysis? I'm excited for Crysis don't get me wrong, but I'm excited for it even though I dislike Far Cry.

Well, I think many ppl are excited because they just loved the previous game. I'm one of them. I loved the freedom, the efficient AI (even if FEAR was better), weapons, vehicules, the constant change between hunter (vs humans) and hunted (vs beasts), the challenge was just fine (did it on high difficulty setting). Granted, story sucks/acting sucks, but I was using sneaking a lot, so it worked for me.

And while the visual of Crysis looks great, I just know that I'm not going to have that on my 1 year old/not directX10 computer. So I expect the game to be good, more than just look good.

The thing is, you start to build a "trust" relationship with some studios because they provide games you like. I'm excite by The Darkness because I loved Riddick. I'm excited by Bioshock because those guys made System Shock 2 (or even Freedom Force). I'm excited by White Knight because Level 5 got a great CV. I'm even excited by what SEED could announce at the E3, because I loved Okami and liked God Hand or Vietifull Joe.

Right now, Guerilla isen't there yet. Great graphics/art will raise my attention, but from a gameplay mecanics POV, they'll still have to proove themselves.
