The distain towards his character many express in a lot of posts is somrthing which you can only get through playing the games. 

That makes no sense as GOW wouldn't have been GOW without Kratos. What you're telling me is that maybe you didn't like the games, another matter entirely. If you liked them, you had to "like" Kratos (or at least not dislike him), there is no way around it.
