And 14/16nm fabrication would be quick to transition to, making a big GPU feasible... Am I hoping to much as a PC gamer? With a bigger GPU they wouldn't need to release a successor for a longer time with some luck. |
I feel the same but if Nintendo really wanted to blow the PS4 out of the water I don't think they'd release this year. It'd make much more sense to wait til fall 2017 and make something more future proof spec wise+affordable.
Launching this year indicates that their goal is to join the generation ( ala N64) or create a new market (Wii ) as opposed to succeeding PS4. If they simply want to join or introduce some new ideas, then I think they will only target specs slightly above the PS4 at most. A 4Teraflop systems would largely go to waste when the average game is optimised for only 2tf. Theres are very few games where we see a big difference in PS4 version versus PC (excluding resolution).
The best thing for Nintendo to optimise their specs around would be playing current games at 1080p, 60fps.
