Lol at all the people and media thinking the "PS4K"(or the NX for that matter) will output gaming visuals at ultra-high definition resolution. The thing would have to cost well over $1,000US and that is a conservative estimate. Try building a PC capable of playing games in 4K(not 1440P but true 4k as in 3840 pixels × 2160P) for under $1,000US, it can't be done. The GPUs alone would cost more than that.

Thank you, thank you! I cannot stress this enough. It'll be upscaled. I would love it to be truely native, but LOL @ THEM! I'm split on if the PS4k will be upscaled for games or if it's for media only. Would Sony really pull that on games, after building all that trust with them? I'm almost inclined to believe Nintendo doing upscaled for gaming. I know the new president was the head of the NoA during the N64 era and he does push for more power and is more aggressive. But at the same time, Nintendo didn't do HD for the Wii because they claimed not enough people had an HD T.V. Well less people have 4K today, thank HD then. Also if the console does cost $400? People will shit their pants that a Nintendo console is that expensive, and they want to sell 10 million units right off the bat? Well... the hardcore games are going to eat that shit right up if upscaled 4K and pumps out more polygons. I'm not so sure if the casual couch patatos will be doing that right off the bat unless Nintendo scores big with EA spots or CoD. Could you imagine the repercussions of CoD: Space Warfare is for PS4, XBO, and NX and this "rumored" Bloodlines game is an NX exclusive to utilize the new hardware? Totally wishful thinking that would never happen.... but shit... the NX would fly off the shelves and it'd almost be harder to find one than that rare Amiibo you want.

Just free thinking all that unlikely bullshit. You know we all want it.

If GPU inside PS4K is 3x PS4 GPU , then it's actually possible to run games in native 2160p on PS4K with the same settings as PS4 in 1080p...but, according to rumours, it's not, it's more like 2x, and that's enough for either 2560x1440 or 1920x2160 anamorphic...my bet would be latter, since it's easier to upscale that to 4K UHD...that is, if their is any bump in resolution and additonal GPU resources are not used for better visuals.

Honestly, when we look at 7th to 8th gen jump, there is 2.25x bump in pixel count for (what Sony claims) 10x jump in proccessing power (from PS3 to PS4). If they want similar jump in power from 8th to 9th gen AND to have native 4K UHD rendering, they would need almost 18x proccessing power for 9th gen...unless some minor miracle happens with 7nm node (or this gen is really long again), I really doubt we'll get such a huge increase, so my bet would be that even in 9th gen, native 4K rendering will not be so common.
