The thing is man, even as the Sony "fanboy" that I am - I was pretty damn sure Microsoft "would win the show" after their conference. It had been a solid conference, and the announcement of BC (until we understood the limitations) was HUGE. Infact, I actually thought BC (I had thought it was full BC) would turn around the US sales gap.

However, Final Fantasy VIIR (who cares if its multiplat... we don't know what platforms yet) and Horizon's gameplay video (Shenmue III and TLG are just good for the fans requesting them.. and so additional points) was just too much not to credit the win to Sony.

Had Microsoft announced FFVIIR and NOTHING else -- they would have won the show. This is the freaking remake of Final Fantasy 7 man... THE RPG that introduced the majority of people around my age to RPGs. This is the game that defined the Playstation 1; The game people have been begging for a remake of since 2005.

If you aren't into RPGs, then fine. But if you are, and STILL try to downplay FFVIIR -- then its just as bad as people trying to downplay ROTR/ QB/ etc.

NOTE: I personally started my RPG journey prior to preschool by watching the Daycare Lady's kid play FF1&2, then myself on the SNES with FFVI, Breath of Fire II, Secret of Mana, etc.

FFVIIR isn't as popular as they make it out to be, but their fans are very vocal. It certainly didn't impress me and I am a JRPG fan...

Thing is, when I saw the "Play it first on PS4" my first thoughts were "brilliant copout Sony!" and they literally lost half the weight the announcement gave them. At the time, MS didn't announce Recore or Sea of Thieves for PC, so at least they kept their weight until later on...

It is a bit like MGS in my opinion, the games are very much associated with the PlayStation brand. When MGSV was released the lions share of copies were sold on PS4 and FF fans will likely be on PS4 already due to FFXIV. It will also run better and in a game with no multiplayer elements that gains importance.

At this point though it hasn't been confirmed for Xbox, so it could just mean PC. Tekken is another game that I consider part of this group.
