I'm now a Microsoft-ecosystem developer (as in, I'm paid to use Visual Studio, C# and SQL Server every day). MS has been doing an amazing job on the developer side to be as open as possible, with the Linux command line and .NET development being open source and compiled for Mac and Linux too.
I'm not worried about UWP because all applications are made on the web these days. And web browsers don't use UWP.
