No, the true beginning of the next-gen was Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Combining the old style (classic Metroid Prime gameplay) with the new style (controls) really marked the start of this generation. The latest game to be truly next-gen is Mario Kart Wii which achieves the same goal as MP3:C, combining the old way with the new way, resulting in the best Mario Kart to date. Wii Fit is first and foremost an exercise equipment with some minigames thrown into the mix which qualifies it as a game, but that's about it. By now I've had enough of these minigames games (I own Monkey Ball, Wii Sports and Play, Wario Ware and played both Rabbid games) and it's getting tiresome. Unlike some other people I know that Nintendo won't just be putting out Wii Fit like stuff in the future, so I have no reason to hate Nintendo. The next F-Zero will be made and I am confident that it ends up just as good as Metroid and Mario Kart, if not better. But Wii Fit as the new face of gaming... sorry, that's just over the top. |
I agree with this.
Let the Wii Fit fans have their Wii Fit. So long as I keep getting Zelda, etc., I'm content, and until stuff like Wii Fit takes the place of Zelda, it won't be "the new face of gaming."
