I remember gasping at Morrowind when I installed the 3.0 mod or whatever it was because draw distance ruined the game. All of a sudden you could see from one end of the map to the other. So I reduced the draw and turned the fog back on that way I could play it again.
But that's an exception. Draw distance is an improvement I've welcomed with open arms.
