Sorry But I just can't let this comment go without a reply. When an American commits a crime overseas, it is ALWAYS reported and MENTIONED that they are American. It goes the same for any FOREIGN person visiting another country. I don't know where you got this information but it is this kind of unchecked, irresponsible commenting that creates false information. As an example check out the Kercher murder in Italy. The alleged perpetrator is usually referred to as "The American."

 

the ones I've seen always say "the man" or just by his name.
