AMD is certainly much better than Nvidia when it comes to OpenCL support but I don't think that's the reason why Apple sticks with AMD anymore ...
Apple sticks with AMD because they are much easier to control than Nvidia, it's probably the same reason why relevant console manufacturers are exclusively AMD ...
Apple doesn't want anybody controlling it's ecosystem similar to the others ...
