Even though that's been debunked, all companies have stated before that the moment their system gets launched they'll immediately begin working on the next console as that's their circle of life.  So we don't need articles stating what's already been going on.

The only difference in these artciles I can see worth mention is if this is something different that changes the cycle (ie. news about PS4K and not PS5 as we all know PS5 is in the works)

Except in this case we can't be certain that there even will be a fourth Xbox console. While the XBO isn't doing poorly, it's obvious that it's nowhere close to what MS wanted it to do. There's been enough reports in the gaming news media to think that there's a non-trivial chance of the XBO being their last system. MS has been really wishy-washy on the subject. While they've probably already made up their minds about what they plan on doing next generation, and I think the XBO still does decent enough in its best markets (mainly the U.S. & UK) to where the Xbox brand in general could and probably still does have a viable future, but I really wouldn't be surprised if next generation ends up just being Sony vs. Nintendo and we end up seeing Halo, et al., becoming multiplatform games.

I guess you do have a point since with the sales performace of XB1 has been rocky.  I did recall Phil Spencer saying that they'll still be making a next gen console after the release of XB1 and poor sales but I guess things can change internally that we're unaware of.

Well if Nintendo can make the NX after the Wii U then surely MS deserves to make another system after XB1.  Although MS can do without videogames while Nintendo can't. =P
