Sega was also always a pretty multi platform company. Their classics such as out run even came out on a competing platform as well as the plethora of European computers. Id go as far as to say prior to the Sega Saturn port, the PC Engine (turbogrfx16) had the best home version of Outrun and not the Master System or Mega Drive.

Other than Nintendo who mandated all software was exclusive go them, games were pretty interchangeable across the other systems. So still supporting PC releases via 3rd party publishers in the 90s want really anything out of the norm.

Fast forward 20 years and it has now become the expectation that games belong to a particular console and nobody else has any right to that game and it is a betrayal to port it. Personally I don't get this stance, but I grew up in the 80s, I'd imagine someone growing up in the ps2/Xbox/GameCube times would see exclusivity as a big thing.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.
