After the whole incident is when United Airlines cited that it was an issue about child safety seats, which the family enquired before they were kicked off the plane. And you have no evidence that the harness wasn't the reason, and especially no evidence that it would have been different wuth a white family.

So we should assume that apparently in USA nothing happens to you if your vehicle(s) do(es)n't comply with federal safety regulations as long as you're a rich airline.
