Its very simple exactly why..

Take a look , and read..the Media center PC idea is a sound one for Microsoft , no argument there..but many consumers work with a "PC" at work Everyday, when they come home they want to mainly relax..the PC is a reminder of Work.

Another one is many replaced their desktops with a Laptop now or a Netbook..many see they already have a PC , why do I need another one?

It may seem to be funny that perception still is predominant even today, but it is.

Damn, this reminds me so much of my work!

Every single day, when I come home and press the power button on my PC, take my wireless Xbox One controller and play on my 55 inch 4K TV on the couch.

Wish my work was so fun!

And again that may be good for you to do that, and its very clear you enjoy that..and that's evident.. What I am simply pointing out despite your drive to do such the majority of consumers have no desire to do so.

Again if they did , PC would have replaced game consoles years ago in the living room as the main entertainment compute platform.

Instead its console's, not the PC, Media center PC, an small formfactor mini itx, pico itx..etc

If they have no drive to look into it or care to do such , that's not going to help with Adoption rates to replace Game Consoles and Nintendo & Sony I doubt want that.. Because a Media center PC, mini itx , Pico itx , HPC what ever is not their platform..game console's are..not a PC.
