NEW PARAGON UPDATE ADDS SEVAROG, BALANCES HERO POWERS

http://www.pcgamer.com/new-paragon-update-adds-sevarog-balances-hero-powers/

I must admit, Paragon is a game I've slowly warmed to over time. What started out as a game seemingly too similar to its multitude of genre siblings in my eyes, I've since very much enjoyed dipping my toe into its paid Early Access phase that launched earlier this month—something Chris recently explored in his extensive primer. Today's update throws Sevarog into the mix, a jungle-dwelling dark arts-wielding tank who steals the souls of his foes to make himself stronger, and, well, you can see what he's got to offer here:

DOOM BETA CODES WILL BE HANDED OUT AT GAMESTOP THIS WEEKEND

http://www.pcgamer.com/doom-beta-codes-will-be-handed-out-at-gamestop-this-weekend/

The Doom multiplayer beta, as you may be aware, begins at 10 pm ET on March 31. The good news is, that's only two sleeps away! The bad news is that it's restricted to people who preordered Wolfenstein: The New Order, or purchased it digitally prior to May 26, 2014. Or is it?

VALVE LOSES AUSTRALIAN LEGAL BATTLE OVER STEAM REFUNDS

http://www.pcgamer.com/valve-loses-australian-legal-battle-over-steam-refunds/

Back in the summer of 2014, Valve was dragged into court by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for refusing to offer refunds on Steam. The complaint said Valve made “false or misleading representations” to Steam users in Australia, including that they were not entitled to a refund under any circumstances, and that Valve itself was not obligated to refund games in cases where “the consumer had not contacted and attempted to resolve the problem with the computer game developer.” The case has now came to an end, and not in Valve's favor.

>>And that's why Valve decided to implement refunds shortly after all this started.

SQUARE ENIX OFFERS TOMB RAIDER 2013 FOR A $1 DONATION TO CHARITY

http://www.pcgamer.com/square-enix-offers-tomb-raider-2013-for-a-1-donation-to-charity/

Founded in 2007, GameChanger seeks “to positively impact the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses through videogames, compassion and innovation.” It provides games and toys to hospitals, hosts gaming events, awards financial aid and college scholarships, and offers “meaningful services directly to patients and staff in hospitals.” To date, it has donated over $200,000 to cancer research, according to its website, and provided more than 17,000 videogames to “hospitals, children centers, partner charities, and families.”

>>Nice gesture from Square-Enix.

METAL GEAR SOLID ONLINE WILL GET A NEW SURVIVAL MODE NEXT WEEK

http://www.pcgamer.com/metal-gear-solid-online-will-get-a-new-survival-mode-this-week/

Metal Gear Solid Online is getting a new patch next week, and it'll introduce a game mode you might recognise from previous iterations of Metal Gear (assuming you owned a console, back then). Dubbed 'Survival Mode', it doesn't involve chopping down trees, picking berries or anything like that: it's a six player free-for-all with the objective of getting a win-streak of five or more matches.

RAINBOW SIX SIEGE PATCH BUFFS BUCK AND USHERS IN DOZENS OF FIXES

http://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-patch-buffs-buck-and-ushers-in-dozens-of-fixes/

Rainbow Six Siege has another huge patch rolling out this week – March 30 to be precise – and among the major changes is an improvement to Buck. He's the fellow who wields an automatic rifle and a shotgun, but according to Ubisoft, players haven't been using him properly. That handy shotgun is designed to breach through walls quickly (it's called the Skeleton Key, after all), but it's not been working effectively, until now.

>>This gif shows how effective the gun is now.

STEAM SECURITY LOOPHOLE EXPOSED BY WATCH PAINT DRY

http://www.pcgamer.com/steam-security-loophole-exposed-by-watch-paint-dry/

Watch Paint Dry is “a sports-puzzle game that evolves around one mysterious cutscene. Bringing in innovative gameplay and requiring high attention to detail, Watch Paint Dry is a must play for anyone who enjoys mystery ARG type games.” Or perhaps I should say, it was: It appeared on Steam over the weekend, but only briefly—because it wasn't supposed to be there at all.

>>I doubt they'll fix this anytime soon, but that explains why Steam is such a good place for the naughty do-ers.

STAR WARS: ROGUE SQUADRON 3D IS NOW ON STEAM

http://www.pcgamer.com/star-wars-rogue-squadron-3d-is-now-on-steam/

Superb Star Wars dog-fighting sim Rogue Squadron 3D has made it to Steam at last (£7/$10). Released in 1998 for Windows and the N64, Rogue Squadron proclaimed "astonishing 3D details including real time lighting and special effects (explosions, smoke, engine glow, tracer fire and more)". It's showing a few wrinkles now, but there's still nothing quite like it for swooping around in an X-wing imagining that your targeting computer is firmly stowed away.

TOKYO 42 HAS THE PRETTIEST CRIMINAL UNDERWORLD

http://www.pcgamer.com/toyko-42-has-the-prettiest-criminal-underworld/

Grime, blood and decay: these are images that accompany the sentence "an action game inspired by Syndicate and GTA1", no? No indeed. Tokyo 42 looks more Mirror's Edge than Grand Theft Auto, perhaps by way of Hitman Go.

COPYRIGHT CLAIM PULLS AUTOMOBILISTA FROM STEAM

http://www.pcgamer.com/copyright-claim-pulls-automobilista-from-steam/

Highly rated Brazilian racing sim Automobilista has been pulled from the Steam Store following a copyright claim by an unnamed company. Project manager Renato Simioni shared the news in a Reiza Studios forum post.

>>I hope they can solve it soon.
