Yeah I'll probably try and shorten them a tad in general. I figured I'd take a hit in the early videos when I'm doing entirely first-in-series games with more (relative) history. If I do Ratchet next, I'll have to touch on both of the cancelled games that existed in the months before, for example. I think this one was long mostly because you can't NOT make fun of the cover. I'll have to try and adjust a bit hough.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against long reviews of games. I just felt that this review in particular could have been condensed. I don't want you to think that a 20min review can't hold someones attention. It absolutely can. It just has to feel like it's moving from one point to another at a good pace, and it felt like some of the topics were lingered on for a bit longer than they needed to be.

This is a 20min review of Ico by Matthewmatosis. Take note of how he is able to pace the points he makes well. He establishes a point, defends it, and then moves on to the next point in quick succession. Because the review is so dense with the points it provides, 20min doesn't seem too long.

He has videos as short as 9m and as long as 6hours. None of them have ever felt too short or too long, not even the 6 hours one. It's all about being concise.

Oh don't worry I completely understand you on that. I wasn't a fan of this review going on nearly as long as it did because I know I could've optimized more, I was referring to just the history bits with the part you quoted. I just didn't want to shift the format too much around for my second video, lest I confuse any audience members about how I'm carrying the format overall - so Megaman suffered a tad as a review, as a result of its placement. If I'd done this review later I would have cut out cohesion entirely because it's mostly redundancy - but I like cohesion as a category to focus on and I didn't want to set precedent to ignore it or give it the short end of the stick because it's at the end of the review. But that's all part of growing pains.

Looking at the scripts for my next videos I'm feeling really good about where I'm at. I didn't think I'd have a decent solid footing as a reviewer for a good while. (Not to say that from a perspective of overconfidence obviously, but I didn't think I'd feel as satisfied with the channel as I do now for a while. There's obviously work to be done from here!)

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
