Better question. Why aren't system patches allowed to be backed up, to begin with. There's no explination why this isn't an option. We can back up save files. But not patches? The consoles boarder so much on PC's. But can't do that. Besides, if the console isn't supported anymore. Your entire digital game becomes unusable. Once your HDD fails. Game or patches. What's it matter, at that point. You'd have to go and re-buy, or pay a licence transfer price, for the port/remaster etc. again. |
Well this is why I think internal HDD space is MEANINGLESS. Let us install shit on externals and jsut plug and play as we need them.
Also Wii U does allow you to backup downloaded game data and save files. THe files sit insde a folder I guess you can call it for that game. However it isn't 100% clean where you can determine wtf the file is lol.
That is why I buy physical and hope that most games aren't bad eough that they can be played without patches.
I would love for us to be able to get physical copies and be able to install them in full and patch them as required.
Hell i would love to see some sort of flash cart hybrid storage for games (YES i know it wil be expensive compared to a disc), there you have read only space for the game and write space for patches and the save file. Then you can play it on any console and not rely on it being linked to a system.
