Why so bad? One machine, no split user base, and you can still have the higher powered games. The other way is far worse. Different machines, fractured user base, confusion with the general public over what will play what. That is a path that could lead to huge disaster in console gaming. |
No one is talking about exclusives or a literally split userbase. PS4 games work on PS4/PS4k. But just like a powerful PC, if you have a PS4k, you can run the games at higher settings then they would run on PS4. Thats all anyone is talking about. It isn't that confusing for anyone and will not lead to any kind of disaster. People deal with smart phone upgrades on a yearly basis and we think they'll have a hard time figuring out 2 different models of the PS4 which run exactly the same games? DId the N3DS (which actually had an exclusive) end up to be a disaster?
I do think PSNow will stream PS4k versions of games ONCE it actually starts streaming current gen games, but Its certainly not what this rumour is discussing. Putting all that money (billions) into a new version of the PS4 hardware just to stream it over the internet would loose sony a ton of money. They need to sell it up front and make their cash back. Beyond that the stream quality in this day and age will be a complete variable amongst the population and it'd render the graphical/resolution upgrades kind of pointless for many.
Interest thought but not realistic or favourable
