So is the NX a new generation of console from Nintendo or a half gen upgrade?

If Wii U, while beeing in the range of power of a 360/PS3 was considered Gen 8 then NX, even if it's an upgrade (which I think it isn't) has to be considered Gen 9. Keep in mind that Wii U is at the end of it's 4 years lifecycle by the end of this year while PS4/X1 have been around for almost 3 years...
