I'm a console gamer before a PC one. But the only "gimmick" in the way the OP described them, would be motion controls, that I liked (at first). Anything else, I ignored. I see things as: "Is this really new. Or just another way to do something I can already do." Examples: 4K resolutions and future higher ones, 3D, Gamepad, & VR. Does this add anything new? Will this annoy me?" Are usually what determines me to go for a gimmick, or not. Besides the price. So, no. I'm not more opened to them compared to a PC only person.
