I was being facetious. There are a multitude of reasons why I wanted to leave the UK. One of them being that I dislike the sheer size, scope, and depth of the welfare system.
Politically, I'm a libertarian individual. Don't find too many of those in the UK. Don't find many in NY, either. But this is just the next step for me in a multi-step plan of getting somewhere I do want to be.
