We don't know how Valve will manage to do that, it's too early to call for compromises.
What's more, given the extra requirements of VR on PC, if that tech is well implemented it could be good for all because that would allow devs to implement VR on demanding games without compromises on the graphics.
Because let's be honest, most VR games so far have sub-standard graphics. Only Eve: Valkyrie, Elite Dangerous, Project Cars and Adr1ft seem to push the graphics envelope.
