I think if you tried google cardboard with a proper headset with good lenses and a proper phone with a high res screen and good specs you would be surprised how good it is. Now this means you having to own a good phone in the first place. But if you already have that, Cardboard is not as bad as people who never tried it or only tried it with a bad headset/phone try to make out.
Like i said in another thread i used it with my Galaxy s5 to play Dying Light on the PC in VR and it completly changed the game. When it got to that part at the start where you have to jump down from the roof, i was scared to do it cos my mind got tricked into believing i was really there. Now clearly this wouldnt be as good as a dedicated Headset but its really not as bad as people try to make it out.

Awesome to know! I have kind of used GearVR. But that's all.

"I have put hundreds of hours into Elite Dangerous and Project Cars in VR."
I'm thinking it'll be fine.

I dont know i been using my Galaxy S5 as a VR headset for awhile now and i still didnt get bored of it. I try almost every game with it. ones that work great are Half Life 2, Ark, Dying Light, Arma 2+3+DayZ, Dolphins VR build is deadly for trying old games. I just wish the PSVR would work on PC so i could upgrade to a dedicated VR headset. Im also eyeballing the Vive but that price is so high. I hope we start getting knock off headsets soon enough like with phones and everything else lol.

Me too.
Will probably end up getting 2.
I would start looking around, there are dozens of headsets made by lots of different companies already.

One guy obsessed with VR means everybody is like that? :P
I had a DK2 and sold it, currently playing FFXIV, dont see myself using a headset to play that game for 6 hours straight. Heck, I dont ever see myself wearing a vr headset for 6 hour straight no matter the genre.
