Orange Box is great. Good multiplayer in team fortress 2, good story in halflife 2 series and best game last year in Portal.
If you want a budget title thats pretty good FPS pick up FEAR from 2006. Great story and even better gameplay... Shouldn't be more than 15 bucks these days.
Otehrwise I also really liked Overlord, that should be cheap.
