There are few videogame dogs more famous than Fallout's Dogmeat. In fact, I can't think of any. Which is just as well, because Dogmeat recently claimed the title of Top Videogame Dog at the World Dog Awards.

Unity has released a new impressive tech demo video, showing off what its engine can actually achieve. According to the team, this is the first part of its real-time rendered short film “Adam”, created with the Unity engine by Unity’s Demo team. The full length movie will be shown at Unite Europe 2016 in Amsterdam.

In today's edition of Unexpected Developments in Decade-Old Browser Games, it turns out that Shandong Honda Mining Co. Ltd., a Chinese mining firm, has made a deal to purchase RuneScape developer Jagex for $300 million. DealStreetAsia reports it as a done deal, while a post on the RuneScape forums describes it as a “potential” acquisition. Either way, the obvious question in my mind is, why?

The Division made a big splash out of the gate, setting new Ubisoft sales records in its first 24 hours of release. That success continued over its first full week, which the publisher said was the biggest first week ever for a new game franchise: It pulled in an estimated $330 million globally in its first five days, and achieved 1.2 million peak concurrent users over the weekend.
STELLARIS AND HEARTS OF IRON 4 RELEASE DATES REVEALED

Paradox Interactive revealed release dates for two of its upcoming games. Stellaris, the Crusader-Kings-in-space grand strategy, will arrive on May 9. Hearts of Iron 4, the World War 2 strategy game, has its own D-Day on June 6 (which is actually D-Day).

ARK: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST BECOMES FREE STANDALONE WITH CASH PRIZES

ARK: Survival Evolved has spun off its Hunger-Gamesy Survival of the Fittest mod into a free standalone murderfest on Steam. And that's free in the old fashioned sense of the word—the announcement claims that there will be "no monetisation" but with the benefits of a fully supported game and cash prizes for the top 10 players in each of its four Survivor Leagues. From this we can assume that ARK is doing very well for itself indeed.

STARCRAFT 2: NOVA COVERT OPS BEGINS MARCH 30

The first episode in a series of new missions for Starcraft 2 arrives March 30. Nova Covert Ops, as the series is dubbed, comprises nine missions across three episodes, each priced $7.50 or available as a pre-order bundle for $15/£12.
