It's a balance.  

Like, your girl may be fine with you going to the midnight release of star wars.  She may start having serious second thoughts if you go there dressed as Jar Jar Binks.

Likewise, your girl may not mind too much if you're playing some games.  But, if she sees you with a helmet on feeling around for imaginary badguys... her engine may cool off a bit.
