A PC with the exact same specs as a PS4 would need some sort of miracle to run UC4 with this level of visuals, and any devs that just brute force PCs to get super good graphics will end up excluding lower end PCs from being able to run the game wich is very bad for sales. PS4 and Ones are closer to pCs than any other console before tough, so things might have changed a bit (or a lot) but anytime I see a PAS4 pulling a The Order or UC 4 kind of look Im lead to think otherwize. |
The architecture of the consoles this gen surely are a lot more similar to pc's but i think it is important to say that this doesn't mean that the optimization possiblities are significantly lower. It just means that the initial effort you have to put into getting results are much lower. You don't need to put effort into just harvesting the standard performance like with T3H C3LL.
Each piece of hardware in the PS4 still have intricacies within that can be explored just like with the ps3, the difference is just that you don't need to deal with the hassle of using completely new instruction sets.
And ofc also console devs have direct access to the hardware + fixed hardware which helps by a huge margin.
