As I said FFVII basically caused the PS1 to outsell the N64. SM64 might have helped N64 greatly, but FFVII helped more. It was a turning point in the sales competition so to speak.

I see. You mention that "SM64 might have helped N64 greatly, but FFVII helped more". I think it is within reason that FF7 at most resulted in the sale of 9.72 million PlayStation consoles versus SM64 resulting in 11.89 million N64s being sold.
