I'm also in the market for a new TV & will be buying one around May. I've done a bunch of research over the past few weeks & it appears, as the poster above said, 4K isn't even the future proof thing anymore.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) will supposedly make the picture look much more realistic and lifelike with a wider, better color range. At the same time, as with 4K, we don't have much HDR content yet. Apparently, ultra blu-rays are coming tho with both 4K & HDR support this year.

Based on you wanting a Samsung, (or Sony) are willing to spend up to $1,500, and want it to be more future proof for PS5 / blu-rays...

This TV seems to be the best bet for you - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U5ZT5LU?tag=rtings-tv-bs10b-20&ie=UTF8

It's in your price range, has low input lag in gaming mode, and is HDR ready

Damn Rain... thanks!

I'm going to look into more of this HDR thing, as I thought 4K was the next thing. I do know most TV shows aren't even braodcasted in 1080p, so 4K's probably out of the question.

These are the kinds of blu rays I'm looking into and I'm guessing I'd be able to watch this on that model. So the main difference between the one I linked and the one you linked is the HDR? Thanks again!
