I'm also in the market for a new TV & will be buying one around May. I've done a bunch of research over the past few weeks & it appears, as the poster above said, 4K isn't even the future proof thing anymore.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) will supposedly make the picture look much more realistic and lifelike with a wider, better color range. At the same time, as with 4K, we don't have much HDR content yet. Apparently, ultra blu-rays are coming tho with both 4K & HDR support this year.

Based on you wanting a Samsung, (or Sony) are willing to spend up to $1,500, and want it to be more future proof for PS5 / blu-rays...
