No but the scale, the intrigue, the location, the creatures the worlds that they inhabit *IS*... you seem to think this game is going to be rubbish because it has similar concepts to other games, but how many of those games have a narrative of reaching the center of the universe, has 1st person view, has spaceship travel... very few I would imagine |
Again it's self generated planets with different creates and biomes that are spliced for you to "discover", the same way there are different self generated planets and creates to "discover" in Starbound,. The concept has already been executed by other games which makes the concept itself not really unique, the only way it's truly unique for you is that you wish to ignore other games that came before NMS and throwing in the subjectivity of the games art design and quality, apart from that self generated biomes have been a thing for a number of years now and splicing creatures has been a concept nailed by Spore, which is also why I've been seeing some people talking of NMS on YT relating the generated creatures to that of Spore.
I don't think the game is going to be rubbish at all, I'm actually going to buy the game, I just believe it's not going to be the best game since sliced bread that some people are deliberately making it out to be. I've already played games that use the same concepts if not a number included into a single game (like Starbound and the other game Zero pointed out). Reaching the center of the universe is but a goal, like any other game that has a goal of killing someone, collecting, discovering etc. I've played plenty of games with spaceship travel and discovery elements, the 1st person part shouldn't be the awesome "omg it's unique" factor when we've plenty of other 1st person titles in space and of course an upcoming title like Star Citizen which features both first and 3rd person spaceship travel with multiple planets and discovery elements.
I like NMS but I'm not working the shaft and claiming it's objectively the ebst space game of all time, apparently I'm only allowed to praise it or I'm simply branded a hater because my opinions don't match up with others, sorry if that is the case.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
