I notice the author mentioned this as well. Yes, it's true that they want to keep the xbox "brand" alive. But brand does not mean console, or even console in the way that we know it.

I believe that yes, there will be another console from MS, but it's not going to be anything like we're expecting.

Expect no physical media, expect streaming, expect PC processing and cloud solutions.

Basically, expect something like a cable box with a video card and wifi

I think if they do another console it will boast the best hardware, the "weak console" stigma is still haunting them, they've realized that people also care for hardware. They might at some point bring out consoles with no discs though,, even this gen. Xbox 4 might be a Windows 11 machine, the OS part is getting more important for MS.

You shouldn't think about things in terms of "how do they rectify image". You should think "how do they make the most profit".

The answer is simple. Make money on both hardware and software, and simultaneously have the highest graphical quality.
To do that, you make that digital box, you use the cloud or PC assistance. You increase your game count by bringing over PC games, and you increase your userbase by going PC as well. I also think Live isn't going anywhere, but it's also probably going to make a transition into xbox cloud or something like that.

Maybe something like, live subscription still 50$ per year on console, streams all your pc games to your xbox ie; crossplay (otherwise it does not), includes several windows/steam games per month. PC Live sub is free.
