Non of the sequels of the first game played similarly, except for DMC 4, that's the only that tries to "continue" with most of the elements of its predecessor.
If you play and like DMC 1 there is a big fat chance you won't like the DMC 2 or DMC 3. I know many who liked one game out of the first four games.
With that said, I hope the new game plays like DMC3. I liked the first DMC when I first played it. Not so much now, it plays too slow.
