I really doubt we'll find out the reasons behind this.

Ultimately, it all comes down to money and profits. The Fable series is popular but not a huge seller like Gears or Halo, despite the third entry selling more than five million copies, and with Bethesda bringing their RPG games to Xbox, the heads of MSoft probably decided that Lionhead wasn't worth the money.

And the Danish studio even less.

Could be that's the reason, obviously. A lot of people saying that the game wasn't gonna to do well.

Well, I won't go into how well or not Fable Legends was going to sell because because that will only be a guess and I'm not good at guessing.

But MSoft owned Lionhead and I'm quite confident that they not only agreed with the idea of a Fable MMO, but encouraged the idea. Every company wants to make a new WoW, and for MSOft that could mean more Gold subscribers that would stay loyal to their console.

Therefore if the poor selling projections are the reason for closing the studio, a part of that blame has to go to the MSoft execs that agreed on it, and not put all the blame to the studio. But of course, it's easier to close a studio that's thousands of miles away than firing the pals you work with everyday.
