I really doubt we'll find out the reasons behind this.

Ultimately, it all comes down to money and profits. The Fable series is popular but not a huge seller like Gears or Halo, despite the third entry selling more than five million copies, and with Bethesda bringing their RPG games to Xbox, the heads of MSoft probably decided that Lionhead wasn't worth the money.

And the Danish studio even less.
