When a fanbase is constantly complaining about absolutely everything then it becomes pure noise, a constant loud noise that never changes, and when there are REAL reasons to complain, the noise just stay the same as always so the company barely senses any difference and they cannot trust the noise because is always there no matter if they are doing it right or wrong, making the feedback almost useless.

Whiny fanbases are more hurtful than they seem.

Frozen smiles and nodding heads are far, far worse.  There's a reason there's a term called "Yes Men".  There is no term for the opposite, because they're called "human beings".
