MS is doing exactly what they need to keep doing with the X1. They aren't doing crazy price cuts or anything else like that and just letting it sell as well as it can. They can't win this gen by doing crazy stuff like that. What they can do is release more games for their console that people like and do other things that will continue to raise the interest of gamers. Then next gen maybe people will be willing to switch back to xbox.
I went from xbox to PS4 simply by watching what Sony was doing with the PS3 and what MS was not doing with the 360. Sony was releasing exclusives all the way up and even after the PS4 was released on their PS3. MS pretty much gave up after Alan Wake I think it was. They had some sequels but nothing new. I made note of this and switched when PS4 was released.
