I have a very similar story. Except a different ending. I too had never played a Zelda game. Up until I bought OoT from VC on Wii. Took awhile to get into it, but I liked the puzzleness and quest to find stuff aspect. Being on the Wii I had to use the Classic controller which at first seemed intuitive. However after about 1/2 way through I found that the aiming with the joystick to be very touchy and nearly impossible to be quick and accurate at the same time. I also didn't like that you really have to have a walkthrough loaded up to know what to do next half the time. I finally quit the game[been 1 year now] at the boss with the 2 hands and a head that need to be shot quickly or you get shoved off the platform because after 25 tries, the aiming and quickly shooting are impossible to do. I now have a WiiU and might one day load it up again to see if allows a different controller setup, but if it is the same I will just leave it alone forever. Good game though and pretty with well thought out quests...

The 3DS version fixes the problem with the aiming, since you can use the gyroscope. It's like Twilight Princess' aiming on the Wii (if you've played that), but better.

Can't wait for The Zelder Scrolls 3: Breath of The Wild Hunt!
