Yeah, I've bought myself a second one recently (for full price of £45, sadly) just as a future-proof.  I know it doesn't play all Vita games but it plays the majority of them, and some stuff is just more fun on the TV and especially with a Dualshock 4.

You call that full price? I still have the receipt for mine! £89.99!
